Roundtable discussion on "Crossing Borders, Building Careers" at KTU
On November 21st 2024, the roundtable discussion "Crossing Borders, Building Careers" brought together 90 participants, including business professionals, Lithuanian and international students and faculty staff, to explore the integration of foreigners into the Lithuanian labor market, with a focus on Ukrainian refugees.
The discussion, featuring Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meda Andrijauskienė, (Vice-Dean for Research at Kaunas University of Technology School of Economics and Business), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kateryna Horiunova (Vytautas Magnus and Mariupol Universities) and Evaldas Ambrazaitis (General Manager at Unlimited Carrier-Lithuania), provided diverse perspectives on the integration of exiled young people in today’s labor market.
Participants in the discussion shared personal employment stories, strategies for maintaining professional networks amid challenges, and highlighted the unique contributions of international professionals to Lithuania’s labor market and academic institutions. They also discussed cultural misalignments and provided actionable advice for business. Practical tips for international students and young professionals starting careers in Lithuania were also shared.
